A true Escape from New York sequel

Hollywood is talking about rebooting Escape from New York, while I honestly feel that the story is somewhat outdated the movie still remains to be a classic I will hold dear to my heart because it's pure badass, with amazing atmosphere, great set pieces, fun action, great characters and Kurt Russell as Snake Plissken is iconic... Escape from LA however was just lame, being that it was rehashing the first movie with crappy cgi scenes and stupid shit happening like Snake on a surf board and playing basketball for his life and other stupid crap, the only things that I liked was Bruce Campbell as the creepy plastic surgeon and the epic ending that has a powerful message.

Now, why retcon Escape from LA for a "true sequel" instead of a reboot?  The idea I have is that the entire United States has become a super prison after it's collapse, now Snake Plissken is a fugitive on the run, Snake is leading a rebellion to overthrow the White House... here you can have different locations showing off the decaying cities, dried out plant life, and other cool stuff.  Also I'd love to see Kurt Russell play a older Snake Plissken. Working title: Escape From USA.
